Reading
Danny the Dragon Meets Jimmy: Danny the Dragon Meets Jimmy is a picture book that has previously won many awards. This app offers sign languag interperetation for deaf children and is the first app of this type to do so. There is also a version where the book will be read to you, show you the text that is being read to you, and will even flip the pages for you. This is a truly amazing app.
Writing
Appwriter: This app is made for those who have difficulties writing and even reading. As far as writing goes, this app includes optical character recognition (OCR) which allows the user to take a picture with the camera on the iPad and then converts it into written text while reading it back to you. Another feature on this app is word prediction, which suggests words as well as predicts words based on what the user has already written.
Math
Mathboard: This app generates multiple choice quizzes that allow you to customize the number of questions, the topics, and what range of numbers you wish to include in the problems. There is an area at the bottom of the page if the user wishes to use his finger or stylus. Once the quiz has been completed, the user's score is displayed and the quiz may be saved if you wish to do so. This allows the user to resume the quiz at a later time, retake certain questions, or retake the entire quiz.
